Looking for a cricket blogger

We are looking for a Cricket obsessive to be the new Editor of our blog The Googly.

You'll need to able to post at least 5 times a day for which we'll pay you a monthly retainer.

Ideally you'll be based in the UK, but we won't rule out Cricket-loving Aussies, Kiwis, Indians, Pakistanis or even Danes.

Email me here with your details. If you blog already so much the better.

Shiny launches Kiss and Make Up (and StarTrip)

Kmumini_1 Other than an ill-advised Goth phase in the eighties I haven't really spend too much time familiarising myself with make up. If I had morphed into Cambridgeshire's answer to Marilyn Manson though I suspect I'd have a better take on Shiny's latest blog Kiss and Make Up.

Shiny's head fashion honcho Gemma tells me that Kiss and Makeup will solve all your beauty woes, give you the skinny on the latest offers and freebies, and guide you through the world of cosmetics in our usual slightly sarcastic way. Streaky fake tan and melting mascara will apparently be a thing of the past!

Shiny also recently launched a goss blog in Star Trip, but for some inexplicable reason it hasn't been featured here yet.

Star Trip, an unashamedly trashy celeb gossip blog, bringing you all the goss on 'slebs like Brangelina,  TomKat, The Federlines, La Lohan, The Hiltons and the one-man powerhouse that is the Clooney. Never again will you need to spent £1.45 on Heat magazine or hide OK! underneath a stategically placed copy of The Guardian. Bookmark StarTrip.tv now and you'll be the first to know when Pete Doherty falls off the wagon (again).

The state of the British Blogosphere - the results of Shiny Media's first reader survey

A couple of weeks ago we conducted a survey across all of our blogs. The response rate was fantastic in that we got 500 replies within the first 48 hours, and this was in spite of the fact we specified that the respondents had to be from the UK.

The survey made fascinating reading for us as well arguably providing the first ever snapshot of the state of the British blogosphere.

Here’s what we found out.

Our readers are young-ish. - 70% are between the ages of 18-35

They are also pretty affluent - Nearly 50% earn more than £26k per year. Of those on lesser incomes over half are students.

They are a bright bunch too – A quarter are students, 20% work in IT and just under 10% are involved in the media.
