Meet The Bloggers - Katherine 'Kat' Hannaford

We now have so many writers it's hard to keep track, so we've asked all our editors, contributors and bloggers to fill out a survey of random questions submitted by the whole team. Kat is the (un)lucky first victim. (Updated 21/01/2008)

Kat Name: Katherine 'Kat' Hannaford

Shiny Job: Deputy Editor of Tech Digest, our flagship title

Location: Originally from - gasp! - Australia, I moved to London mid 2004 and have been living in South West London for the majority of the time.

Five favourite web 2.0 sites (besides shiny ones): Facebook, Flickr, YouTube, Twitter, Wikipedia.

Best 3 gigs you've ever been to: Always a tough call, but judging by the fact I've seen the Manic Street Preachers five times now, they'd be up there, as would The Cure, and Iggy and the Stooges.

Favourite 3 books: 'The Dice Man' by Luke Rhinehart, 'Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas' by Hunter S. Thompson, and 'American Psycho' by Bret Easton Ellis. Better throw in the complete works of Irvine Welsh too, whilst I'm at it.

Favourite 3 albums: 'The Holy Bible' by Manic Street Preachers, 'After The Gold Rush' by Neil Young, and 'Brighten The Corners' by Pavement.

Favourite 3 films: Full Metal Jacket, My Neighbour Totoro and The Life Aquatic.

In the film of your life you'd be played by:
Maggie Gyllenhaal.

What song would you pick for the soundtrack to your life: Something ironic and humorous, like 'Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now' by the Smiths. It'd definitely be a Smiths song, anyway.

What colour toothbrush do you have: A white whizzy electric one with blue racing stripes, zoom zoom!

What song would you want played at your funeral: 'The Airconditioned Nightmare' by Mr. Bungle. It's insane milk-bar music courtesy of Mike Patton, and I dare anyone to not feel instantly uplifted when listening to it.

Tell us one secret about you that people wouldn't expect: I, err, used to be the world's biggest Mac fangirl and worshipped every day at the Temple of Jobs.

If you were a car, what would you be: A black glossy Valiant, like what mobsters drive. And old Italian grannies.

If you were a videogame character who would you be:
Kaede Smith from Killer 7. Of course, she is just one of many multiple personalities owned by a 60 year old crippled man. So, my final answer would be Jill Valentine from Resident Evil.

Favourite tech hero: By now it's fairly obvious to anyone who's ever read anything I've written that there's just one man for me: Bill Gates. Phwroar!

Best technology purchase ever made: All the digital cameras I've owned over the years - I'm a serial snapper, you just have to look at my Flickr account to figure that out.

Last technology purchase ever made: Microsoft Zune MP3 player.

Three tech items you cannot live without: My Zune, my mobile phone (currently the HTC Touch, but this changes fairly often), and my Kodak Dual Lens V610 digital camera.

Apple or Microsoft: Microsoft! Have you not been paying attention!?

Blu-ray or HD DVD: HD DVD all the way, baby.

Plasma or LCD: I live in the LCD camp, I'm afraid. Expensive taste all the way!

PS3 or Xbox 360: The Xbox 360, of course. I actually like gaming, that's why.
